Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and four other suspected Al-Qaeda members, have said that they want to plead guilty to organising 911, at an upcoming military tribunal to be held in Guantanamo. Mr. Mohammad said he will hold back to make his plea until a couple of his co-defendants have had their mental state evaluated. If found guilty, they would receive the death penalty, but chances are Obama will have to put a stop to the tribunal, as he has opposed it publicly.

THE MADNESS CONTINUES ON GUANTANAMO!
Is this Bush's opportunism to try and bring a conclusion to the 911 issue? This would be the perfect ending.... Terrorists caught, pleaded guilty, and put to death. No need to talk about that anymore. No need for further investigation. In fact, its all wrapped up nicely before he leaves town. You couldn't have predicted that! But they had not planned on Mr Mohammad saying he would not plead guilty without all of the co-accused standing together as "martyrs". And on a day that the US administration flew out 9 of the victims family members to be there at the "court" proceedings. This is looking more and more like a stage show as it drags along, but with twists they didn't count on. The judge had ordered the evaluations, so it was him that put the spanner in the works in reality. Otherwise it could have been show over before Christmas.

SO WHO DONE WHAT?
Mr Mohammed is said, by the US, to be the 3rd in command of Al-Qaeda, and they say he has carried out up to 30 terrorist attacks around the world. He says he was the man behind the 911 attacks, "from A to Z", and he has said he would like to become a martyr for the cause. Ramzi Binalshibh was supposed to be one of the hijackers, according to the US, but was unable to get a visa, and Mustafa Ahmad al-Hawsawi is accused of being one of the main financiers behind 911. Both of those men are to have the mental health evaluations, to make sure they have not given their confessions under duress. The two other men are Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali who was supposedly a "lieutenant" for Mr Mohammad during 911, and Walid Bin Attash, who is not only accused of involvement in 911, but he says he planned and carried out the attacks on the USS Cole too, and will be admitting to that in the future trial too, which is another neat little ending added as a bonus!

CAN TEAM BUSH WRAP THIS UP QUICK ENOUGH?
If they really want to, they certainly will. And that will really tell its own story because you would expect Obama to have enough pull to get the trial halted, and to get it into a proper court of law on US soil. But then if that happens you are looking at the possibility of them getting off scot-free, because no court in any "democratic" nation would ever convict anybody of anything after they have been through such in-humane treatment to gain their confessions, would they? And what's more, apart from confessions during waterboarding, they have probably very little evidence that would stand up in court. You can imagine them wheeling in a cart of empty files, saying they can't share the enclosed information, due to issues of national security.
